There's also the time disadvantage for international shipping and added
costs . . . for me to buy a local international money order here it
costs US$9 and US$12 for me to cash one (plus a percentage of the money
order).

Does that include the German-built cameras made under contract from
American companies? Or the components? Lenses? :-)

What about us Americans who are overseas?

Of course, international shipping is a big headache for many folks, so
those of us not living in the U.S. just have to bite the bullet and put
up with it until more sellers realize they can ship overseas and that
they can encourage international buyers to use services like Bidpay
where the U.S. based company issues a local money order and mails it
there to cut down on time and expense - the buyer uses a credit card to
pay for the money order service.

I assume the second part of George's post was tongue-in-cheek. :-) Of
course, I've had sellers on this list and sell-3d say they would prefer
not to ship overseas . . . or had ebay sellers inflate the shipping
costs quite a bit (one fellow quoted a shipping cost of US$30 for an
item I won the bid for US$2.95 so I had him ship it to my mother in the
States and she mailed it to me for US$15, steep but I wanted if fast . .
. caveat emptor and all that).
