Thanks for reminding me.  Pixar did come from Lucas, but Steven Jobs
(Apple, Next) bought the company from Lucas.  I think the idea at one
point had been for Pixar to be Lucas' CGI unit the way Skywalker
Studios became their sound studio.  I don't know that Pixar was ever a
separate entity before Jobs bought them.
