Black tape is a good quickie "fix" for light leaks on
cameras that don't have leather/leatherette or other soft
material coverings. It's also good as extra insurance
to supplement any other light leak repair work you've done
on the camera. I've never seen black masking tape, however.
Where did you get it?
I have used black gaffers tape, which works wonderfully. It
leaves no sticky messy residue and can be reused multiple
times (you usually have to remove your tape to unload the
film). I've only seen it offered in big rolls, though, and
those will set you back a good bit more than a buck or two.
If you need small quantities, please feel free to contact me
off-list; I'll be happy to send a foot or couple from my large
roll.
