This seems to be the same as the one we have at work as part of our
Olympus Macro equipment, although it was intended to be used with a belows
to stop down the aperture as you took a photograph, there is adjustable
lag between them. One is longer than the other,is marked with a red ring,
and has an extra knurled ring for adjustment. For auto bellows operation
the diaphragm is supposed to close to the preselected aperture the moment
the shutter release is triggered.
To do this you connect the longer with the red ring to the camera belows
mount and the shorter to the release button on the camera . Then with the
OM-2 for instance set on manual you proceed to
1) Set the camera shutter speed ring to the "B" position
2) Set the the lens aperture ring to the minimum
3) Open the camera back
4) Release the shutter slowly with the plunger while looking through the
back of the camera.
5) As the shutter opens the blades should close to the preselected aperture.
6) Apply additional pressure and if the diaphragm blades continue to close
make the needle in the red ringed lead longer with the knurled ring until
there is no further movement of the blades when the plunger is fully
depressed.
I suppose to try to synchronise for stereo you could do the above but with
the long red ringed lead conected to another camera that will be furthest
from the plunger on the bar but place the cameras one in front of the
other. Both with their backs open and view one through the other and then
adjust for synch but it sounds from what Grant says that this may not be
enough. P.J.Homer
