In New Digest 35, Sergio Baldissara writes, in part:
<< if you own a TV/PC projector, you can't use method 1 to
project the images (movies) you got by method 2: LCD projectors already
polarize light by themselves... >>
Some of you may remember the short National Geographic underwater 3D video
projected at NSA/Richmond, '98. When I first saw it (at a PSSP club meeting
some months before) I had a brief opportunity to speak with the presenters
from NGS. They used two synchronised video projectors with polarisers over
the lenses. I was astonished as I, too, had thought it impractiable. The
gentleman I spoke to though it no big deal. "Circular polarisers", he said.
Perhaps the quarter wave plate makes this possible? I have had no access to
a video projector to be able to experiment.
I know that there are different video projection technologies available, but
what else besides CRT & LCD? Wasn't TI working on something a few years ago?
Something about micro mirrors? My memory escapes me....
