Many motorized 35mm cameras wind the film completely out of the
cassette upon loading and rewind the film as pictures are taken.  This
lets you open the camera back immediately upon taking the last frame
without exposing the roll to light.  I believe that a lot of the
disposables also work this way (without a motor drive).
