[photo-3d] Twin Olympus C-3030's

No, I haven't done it yet.

I am thinking about getting another Olympus C-3030zoom camera for twinning.
 This camera takes 20 1596 x 2048 images on a 16Meg smartmedia card and
downloads each 800K image in about 3 seconds over a USB cable.  It is a
3.3Megapixel camera and just hit the dealers last week.  Very nice with all
high-end camera features such as auto bracket, auto/manual focus to 8";
auto, priority or manual exposure, 4 seconds sound recording, panoramic
stitching, movies, etc.

Anyway, the vertical format with the cameras base-to-base would work out
fine.  You could print 7 x 10 prints on an Epson Photo870 printer and view
them with the VueMagic side-by-side viewer.  Or post the pair on the
internet at half resolution, and view them with a "Freeviewer's assistant
viewer".

With manual focus the delay should be minimal for better sync.

The minimum stereo base measures out to be about 66mm with horizontal
format, and 60mm for vertical.

Enough fantasizing -the problem is with the remote shutter release.  It is
infrared TV style and you have to be "in the picture" within 15deg of the
center of the image to release the shutter or zoom.  For a twin rig, you
would need some way to get the light into the receptor next to the
viewfinder, either with mirrors, or fiber optics.  Has anyone done this?
