[photo-3d] Fixed Focus Twinning
I have been reading and pondering the threads regarding twinning and
have a few observations and comments. Main concerns with twinning are
lens spacing and synching. With autofocus cameras there can be a lag
time for the camera to focus (there may be cameras with focus lock or
manual focus). Lens spacing is not really a problem if the cameras have
wide angle lenses or you are back far enough.
Most fixed focus lenses are sharp(?) from about 4 ft. to inf.. With
lenses spaced 4-5 in. apart you won't want to focus closer than 4 ft..
Plus fixed focus cameras are cheap (inexpensive). Problem. Fixed focus
cameras are cheap (have crappy lenses).
So here is what I am looking for. A small fixed focus camera with sharp
lenses, a focal length of about 28-35mm (closer to 28), an easy method
to sync (electrical or IR remote) and reliable exposures. A camera such
as this should cost under $100 even with auto film advance. Does anyone
know if cameras with IR remote have the remote specific to one camera?
Auto film advance would be nice so that the cameras could be built into
a lunch box etc, for stealth photos. I keep seeing these cheap fixed
focus cameras hanging on the racks at Target and think "If only they had
decent optics". Enough rambling for now.
