Re: [photo-3d] Camera of choice?

I agree that Realists are generally reliable, but on a recent trip (to South
Florida / the Everglades) I had problems with the film advances of both my 3.5
and 2.8. I was able to get one working by later in the trip, fortunately.
Realists are still definitely my "cameras of choice" at this point.

But if it is important to you to come home home with stereo images, I would
recommend taking at least two stereo cameras. I find a Nimslo can be a nice
lightweight "backup", or lightweight primary camera for some situations where
one would otherwise be tempted to leave the stereo gear at home, such as
backpacking. (I mostly use my Nimslo for closeups, prints or slides, but it
could be called into service for "normal" distance views in a pinch.) A
Loreo/Argus/Discovery is nice and lightweight also, but still hardly worth the
effort in my experience, although others may have had better results than I,
especially with Greg Tank's antireflective modifications and perhaps judicious
selection of subject and lighting situations, or using a slave flash.
Theoretically one could use a slide bar or cha-cha with a 2d camera as a
"backup", but I rarely choose subject matter stationary enough for these
methods.-Linda
