[photo-3d] Why twin?
>
>Is it the attention of a twin rig? The dollars saved?
The cost is an important factor. Of course there are some great 5P cameras
available at bargain prices, but I enjoy shooting full frame. For the cost
of a custom built stereo camera I can pick up two pairs of Ricoh XR-10Ms.
(And with the change I can get a PC, scanner, printer, CD burner and image
manipulation software.)
>The challenge of syncing?
Since I tried Ray Moxom's 3- wire technique the cameras sync perfectly all
the time - no challenge at all.
You guys that twin SLR's are amazing! Why you wrestle with such
>equipment is certainly admirable......but I gotta tell you, I'm

One of the things I love about 3D shooting is varying the lens separation
depending on subject matter. Can't beat twinned cameras for that. I don't
know if I'd be comfortable stuffing a $3,000 camera in my carry-on luggage
for business trips, and that's where I do my favorite shooting. If I break
one of the XR-10Ms (I haven't broken one yet, in spite of lots of abuse) I'm
out $180.

I guess I do have to set aperture and shutter speed two times instead of
once. I'm still taking
more slides than I have time to mount.
