I performed the mods described on that page a while ago, and that 
did eliminate stray reflections coming from above and below.  The 
problem I'm trying to fix now is light coming from the right and
left. 
 I think it's either a reflection/refraction from the edge of the 
front glass plate or a reflection off of the shiny metal leaf spring 
that presses against the glass.

I'll have to scan and post a couple of images to show what I've been 
talking about.
