I'm using an Epson 1200 Photo scanner which goes for about $350.  I'm
getting much sharper results scanning my slides than I've gotten using
duplicating tubes, but this could be due to my lack of experience with the
tubes.  Even though scanning technology might have a little ways to go,
there are some  compelling advantages to scanning and digital editing when
making stereo cards.  Two 3 inch wide images can be paired on one 4 X 6
print, with complete "undoable" control over window adjustments.  I've yet
to see a paper trimmer with an "undo" button.  When having edited
"monolithic" pairs printed there's no chance of mismatched exposures between
individual prints, a common problem when using 1 hour photo processors.  Jim
