[photo-3d] Ritz CDs

"Many Ritz Camera stores can scan negs or slides to a high res CD in
one
> hour. $7.99-$8.99 per roll."
I was not pleased with this service. My slides from my twin 35s came
back dirty, the scans showed the dust that they put on, they failed to
white balance, and generally produced scans that were not usable. This
from perfectly exposed Velvia. They were so far off the mark that I did
not feel that they could do it right and that my slides were at risk
when in their hands. I hope that you have better luck than me.
The best thing about Ritz is that they can send it to Kodak. The Kodak
CD is worth the money if you want to only do a few slides or want
extreme resolution. Flat bed scanners are not as good as film/slide
scanners. A good film scanner is a much better value than a digital
camera. It will produce better results than Ritz will. Especially if
you scan stereo slides. Kodak wants Your slides mounted in 2" x 2"
mounts.
