[photo-3d] Epic and Auto P&S Cameras

The best advise for a compact pair of P&S cameras is a pair of Olympus
XA2's. This is still the best pair to achieve a wired sync. The Epic is
a great little camera ( singular) and should remain a "bachelor" :-)
Amoung the problems with twinning the Epics is the long delay before
firing, the soft relay-type electronic shutter button with the absence
of the "stop-click" feel.
Each cameras auto focus will yield differential focus in many of the
pairs. Twin flashes will cause double shadows and mismatched pairs.
Setting one camera with flash and one without would result in different
F settings and impossible manual flash snyc. I think I could achieve
better matched pairs using disposables or fixed focus cameras. The
success ratio of matched pairs would be much higher in exchange for the
quality level of the Olympus lenses. Also a pair of prints viewed in
stereo are sharper than either single print. I've used a pair of Dakota
RZ10's (Ritz Camera, $20 each) and have many great print pairs from
these cameras. Mark Dottle
