[photo-3d] it didn't suck last year

When he described the workshops I gave last year in his Stereo World
article, John Dennis said, "Tom has the sort of boundless energy and
enthusiasm that would hold the attention of even someone without the
slightest interest in the subject of his presentation."
I'm not patting myself on the back, I just want you to know it wasn't
totally crappy. Anyhow, I have cooked up some new topics for this
year, described below. Please consider attending if you can.
And here's a pot-sweetener. The first 100 people who attend my
workshop "Creating Worlds in 3D" will receive the Strata3D modeling
software on CD-ROM. The disk contains both the Mac and PC versions
of this program, which they normally sell with a manual for $39.
Free stuff!
I pack a lot of info in a fast paced 45 minute program, because I
hate to be boring. If you don't feel you've been sufficiently
entertained, I will personally give you double your money back. :^)
See you in Mesa in a few weeks.
Tom

"Digital Restoration of Stereo Views"
Those of you that attended my Photoshop demo last year recall we
didn't spend enough time doctoring stereo views. There was a lot of
interest, so this time I'll devote the whole 45 minutes to that
topic. I'll start simple, and ramp up to the good stuff pronto.
I'll bring a laptop and video projector, so you'll see the image on
the big screen as I work on it live. And courtesy of Ron Labbe, I
will also project the images I create in 3D. So you can see
stereoscopically how the restoration techniques work. I don't think
this has ever been done anywhere before. Bring your polarized
glasses.

"Creating Worlds in 3D"
Strata Corp. just released a "lite" version of their 3D raytracing
software for free. Considering it cost $700 a month ago, that's
pretty cool. I've used it for five years now, and I'll show you how
it works.
Understand this: I am not a shill for Strata. I will be more than
happy to point out the many flaws in this software. In fact, I am
certainly one of their most vocal critics. It could get out of hand.
But even I have to admit, when it works, this software works pretty
well. It's got to be the world's easiest-to-use 3D modeling program.
It now has a built-in stereoscopic camera with some nice features.
And the raytraced images are admittedly impressive.
The first 100 people to show up will get the software on CD-ROM to
take home with them. And to top it off, I will project some still
images and animations in 3D (with Ron Labbe's generous help). And
I'll try not to get kicked off the Strata test team.
