[photo-3d] lightning trigger

Recently I saw an ad for a lightning trigger. Handy for
photographing lightning in the daylite. Since several
unsuccessful attempts at capturing stormy weather in 3-d
last year, I have an interest in finding a way to get
lightning in a scenic 3-d photo. Went to the web site and
found that the device costs over $300. Seems like one could
be built for a lot less. Possibly using a LASCR or even by
modifying a commercially available flash slave unit. Anybody
have an idea on how this might be accomplished?
