2.5mm as an absuloute figure is meaningless.
it can be ok on 9cm horizontal lenght (6x9 frame), may be too much on 6cm
(6x6 frame)...
I repeat maximinum (not optimal) separation is about 1/30th of horizontal
lenght (say about 2° parallax). I you can't believe it, just crop a
particular from an anaglyph: you'll realize you can't fuse any more!
