[photo-3d] Cordless Headphones

While selecting headphones for a group presentation, I would recommend
radio frequency STEREO models ( 900 mhz). The infared ( IR) phones
require line of sight, short limited distances, and a very narrow
off-axis performance. Be careful what you are shopping for, there are
many wireless models that deliver MONO sound for a cheap price. The
phones must be true stereo models for optimum sound quality. Below is a
link to an Emerson model #2000. Emerson is willing to package the model
#2000 without the transmitter, but will work on the same frequency. (
This is referred to as model #2050.....you won't see it advertised
anywhere, you'll have to inquire) My last price quote ( not in front of
me right now) for 30 phones, and a single transmitter was around $650.
The reason I had not purchased was a somewhat limited frequency
response, especially at higher frequencies. ( this will not make a huge
quality difference for most slide programs, but I wanted to check
further)
Recently I have talked with distributors of Advent, and Grado models.
Mfgr, reps have called me, but you don't want to know the price!
:-) We're talking thousands of $$! So the Emersons are worth a shot. I
plan to purchase one pair and put the phones through the test.
I'd be happy to post an evaluation. BTW, you'll also want to select a
simple pair of phones without tuning controls etc. The more advanced the
phones, the larger potential for kaos trying to dial in the whole group.
For those seriously considering this info, E-mail me and I'd be happy to
share my findings and make additional recommendations. Thanks.
