If you decide to try Provia again, you might be able to find a decent
local lab that does E-6 processing so that you don't have to worry about
dealing with Kodak or Fuji or anyone else mail order. I have had poorly
handled/damaged film many times from Kodak, better results from Fuji in
that regard and their mailers are cheaper than Kodak's besides. I did
send a few rolls to A&I at one point before I switched to a local lab
and they seemed to do a good job, so might be your best bet if you need
Kodachrome processing, or if you don't have a local options and prefer
not to use Fuji mailers for E-6 films.
I am very pleased with the results I get from Provia 100 (since I moved
up from Sensia 100), and I prefer it to Kodachrome 64, and much prefer
it to Kodachrome 200 which seems very grainy. I really haven't used
Kodachrome 25 as I like a somewhat faster film for more depth of
field/faster shutter speeds. Have you tried Velvia 50? Being able to use
local processing is a significant advantage also for me, although it
would be nice to have the longevity of Kodachrome. -Linda
