While that's true to some extent, the big problem with this
approach for me is viewing images with a totally screwed up
stereo window. While there is some instant gratification
effect, the "window at infinity" (which to me is effectively
no stereo window) really spoils much of the pleasure of 3D.
(As an aside, I have developed a "stereo window tutorial" set
of images. If I picture is worth a thousand words, you can
now have over 5,000 words (times two! ;-) ) worth of stereo
window explanation with our 5-slide tutorial. The first slide
in the set is mounted with window at/beyond infinity so the
user can see the improvement a correct stereo window makes.
See the separate announcement for more details.)
My rolls of separately mounted 2x2 pairs are now sitting
around waiting for me to get to the even bigger task of
ripping the chips out of the 2x2 mounts to put them in
Realist mounts. Also, because like most of us I have a
pretty good Realist format viewer but only a cheapo STL
twin 2x2 viewer, viewing pleasure is again impaired.

Or to view them in a hand viewer as they should be viewed,
with a proper stereo window!
