A noble cause.
I am surprised that Paul did not question color
accuracy vs. perceived color. Who says that
the light from a fluorescent tube is closer to
daylight that a tungsten halogen bulb? Measurements
or asking "test subjects" what they think (a.k.a Kodak
vs. Fuji approach).
I am not kidding! We take it for granted that the
daylight balanced FL tube is more accurate than the
definitely warmer tungsten bulb. However, we are
usually looking at these slides inside a house at
the evenings when the light comes mostly from
Tungsten light bulbs. So our eyes are used to
the warmer ambient light. As a result, the light
from a FL tube looks "too white" to the eyes. The
light from a tungsten halogen bulbs looks more
natural.
Paul mentioned the Cabin light box. I find the color
from this box to have a magenta cast. Maybe this is
the case when looking at it under FL illumination
(at my office) which tends to green?
Personally I find the halogen tungsten bulb more
natural to the eyes.
