I just pencil a film abbreviation (ESW, KR64, ProF, etc.) onto 
the top plate near the rewind knob or, for Wollensak/Revere, in 
the depression of the rewind knob itself. These reminders don't 
usually smudge in use, but can be easily erased and don't seem 
to harm the metal.
