Yes, Robot mounts are 2x2 mounts that were designed for "Robot" cameras
that took 24x24 exposures on 35mm film. They made in Germany starting in
the 1930's and continuing through about the 1950's I believe. The
slip-in Robot mounts were made by Pegco (and maybe others) and are
occasionally found as new old stock (I have a small personal stash).
Reel 3d used to sell them way back when. They work well for Realist
format halves.
The other option is to buy GEPE mounts and use an appropriate
combination to get close to Realist size. Combine one side of a GEPE
6301 (24 x 24mm) with one half of a 2801 (21 x 28 mm) vertically
oriented, and you get a 21 x 24 mm opening which works well with a
single Realist chip. Reel 3d and other photo outlets carry these. It is
a nuisance to have to remount slides this way for making prints, but it
sounds like it would be worth it. It helps if they are mounted in RBT's
so that the remounting isn't too difficult. -Linda
