The batteries for the original Fed as I have are hard to get hold of from
supplies of batteries for cameras. Some people have reduced the size of the
battery compartment with an insert so that it can take more readily
available batteries. I dont know if the FedBoy modifications include this
and I do not have my own manual to hand to check what the original
batteries were. Part of the problem is that the original batteries were
mercury and are being phased out. I found that a local boots chemist (drug
store) had none in stock but located a small supply for me and I was
considering ordering the whole lot when another asisstant comented that the
old battery looked like the ones used in the Braun Independant portable
hair curling tongs. I tried one and it worked and have used these ever
since. Braun sounds as if it should be a german company,I am about to take
some holiday until the 8/9 so I will not be able to answer any further
questions on this for a while. P.J.Homer
