Chuck, you might want to carefully re-read your own message! ;-)
You see, there is not one "euro" format. Image size of all the
various 7P cameras was somewhat different. Contrast that with the
5P format for which there exists an ANSI specification for film
size and mount dimensions. (Not that any of the mounts on the
market actually conform to the mount spec, but that's a different
issue.)
You've pointed out that "cutting the film right is the most important
operation." How should the users of all the different 7P format
stereo cameras (not to mention users of full-frame twin rigs and
RBT cameras, who also use "euro" format mounts) cut their film "right"
to successfully complete this "most important operation?"
RMM expects to carry a 7P heat seal mount in the future. We will
do so after we are satisfied that we have designed one that is
sufficiently flexible to easily accommodate the variety of cameras
producing images wider than 5P. One of the many beauties of the
Spicer lineup is that cutting the film is not the most important
operation. The tab-free design really is the best choice for wide
format stereo images.
