[photo-3d] Re: Spicer Mounts
Paul,
Thanks for your comments.
Well, didn't mean to dis spicers, but I guess I did. The last
sentence
in your reply, let alone the whole tone of it, makes me think that
your envolved with the development of spicers. No offense was
intended. I actually like spicers for all the things that you
mentioned (and, BTW, I use the glue on spicers too, works great). My
personal preference, though, are mounts with tabs and was hoping out
loud that spicers could also be made with tabs (but not exclusively
so).
The one goal I have when I get an uncut roll of film back is to get
those slides mounted so I can look at them. The better ones go to
RBT's (or spicers) for finer adjustments. As you say, spicers offer
precision, but precision and convenience (and with convenience I mean
speed of use) are two different things. In my experience, mounting
with tabs (in order to get them mounted) goes more quickly then
spicers. That's neither good nor bad, JMO, and a personal preference.
I don't mind the generic accuracy of heat seal mounts for general
viewing. It works fine for me. But as you imply, it's good to have a
choice.
Thanks again.
John
