No malfunction, just the way the camera works (it is a Ricoh).

Why would the speeds be different on manual and auto? Same question for 
max/min shutter speeds - why 1/3000th to 32 second on auto, but only 
1/2000th to 20 seconds on manual? Is there something different in the 
metering system?
