This I what I've been doing, except for the macros. My
Photoshop chops are fairly basic, so this kind of work isn't yet
routine. But it's fun adjusting the position of the layer with a
rounded corner mask, at 50% opacity, above the scanned
image layer. Zoomed in, I can see where the mask edges are in
relation to the inner edges of the chips and make sure the
"fuzz" is clipped away. The final sharp-edged result has little
black corners with the inner radii, which works nicely for
Depthcharged viewing. If you like stereo views with rounded
corners... :-) Now I have to make custom Photoshop masks
for all the different Spicer mounts I'm using. :-)

As an aside, rounded corner mounts seem ideally suited to
Revere and Wollensak cameras (and others?) that have the
inner corners of the chip frames chamfered. These little
unexposed triangles make it easy to locate the dividing line
between chips when cutting them apart, but can intrude when
using mounts with square inner corners.
