I don't know about the one-ring vs. two-ring item. However, I have a Zeiss
viewer somewhat similar to the one show in eBay Item #452168481, but with
two important differences:
1) Mine is a two-piece viewer, where the light can be removed so the viewer
can be used with available light.
2) The one on eBay appears to put the slide very close to the front. I'm
guessing that the light is in front of the slide, with the image halves
reflected through a "W" like arrangement of mirrors to the lens.
I don't know how #2 would affect the quality of the image. I'd like to see
the insides of this viewer.
I will say, though, that the two-piece Zeiss viewer is excellent! It
offers the best reproduction of splitter slides I've ever seen ... better
than the Stitz viewer or the Pentax, in my opinion.
