I never worry about lost mail - just the ever increasing cost of sending
a letter. I exclusively use the USPS to send philatelic materials out,
and there has never been a problem.
I think e-mail has helped because of the immediacy. I think one should
find better things to worry about, not the USPS. They do a spectacular
job of getting my mail to me.
What I find interesting is how UPS, Fed Ex and others have forced the
postal service into working harder and smarter. I know that if you have a
package lost by the USPS, it seems like the end of the world, and it is
easy to criticize them for loosing your package. But consider the large
amount of packages and letters sent each and every day by the postal
service.
Besides, what other choices do you have besides the USPS?
I think that if you are looking for fast, convenient and consistent
delivery service, no one compares to the USPS. Except Amtrak. We used to
ship packages using Amtrak. They were faster and the cost was about the
same. Anyone else here ever ship by train?
