I doubt very much that any 45 year old mechanical item as intricately 
engineered as a 
camera will work at its factory specs today unless it has had some level of 
servicing.  
Realist, Rolex or Rolls-Royce, all require periodic maintainance to continue 
to operate 
within factory tolerances.  Given such service and reasonable care in 
operating, there 
is no reason why they shouldn't perform well for the rest of our lives.
