My main reason for telephoto lenses on a stereo camera are for
the opposite effect: close-up images. Using a telephoto lens
allows you to be farther away from your subject while
maintaining the same on-film magnification. This helps keep
the parallax down to a tolerable level when using a wide
stereo base. Of course all others rules still apply - like
limiting total scene depth.

In my case I am using 28-70mm zooms on a 65mm base RBT. I zoom
out to 70mm and turn down to minimum focus. This has worked
well and produced many images that have been accepted in
exhibitions (even one that won best new exhibitor at
Hollywood).

And just to tie this into the original thread - I have owned
several Realist cameras and have nothing but praise for them
as well.

That's all for now,
