One hint:  Stereo cards often are curved. Flattening them by pressing them
under a heavy glass can improve results.  Be careful with reflections, check
for glare by looking at the ground glass image, and move the copy lights as
necessary (a 45 degree angle aimed at the far corners of the print is
usually best).   If glare is still a problem consider using polarizing
filters on the copy lights and the lens.  You may find that this helps the
gamma (contrast slope) as well, giving a more accurate reproduction.
