[photo-3d] I need a New Yorker's help!

I have an odd, non-3D related request, but this is the only wide forum of photographers that I know, so I'm coming here first!

I'm the supervisor of a 3D animation project and I'm doing a sequence on the rooftop of a building in New York City.  It takes place at night and,
rather than spend many years building a 3D model of the city lights, I would love to just go up to a roof somewhere with a digital camera and take a
panoramic picture of the city.

The only problem is, I'm in Los Angeles!

The people I know back in NY (where I'm from) either don't live in the city or just don't know enough about photography to take a useful, panoramic
night time shot.

Can anyone out there help me?  It doesn't have to be from any particular vantage point and it doesn't have to have any important landmarks - it just
needs to look more or less like the lights of the city from above.
