If I were trying for the nice master/slave arrangement you did, I would 
agree that a common power supply is a requirement. The theory I've been 
working on is simply extending the two shutter buttons and connecting them 
to two DPST switches.  In this way, my two camera circuits never see each 
other.
One DPST push on/push off will do a "half press" on each camera.
The other DPST momentary will do a "full press" on each camera.
This isn't going to get me down into the 1/1000 synch range, but its a 
place to start.

I had forgotten about digikey.  I've been having a heck of a time finding a 
DPST or DPDT momentary push button in a smallish size.  Thanks for the lead.

Do you have time to scan any shots from your T4S rig to share with us?
