George, this is exactly how I started... I only had one camera to
begin with and sure enough a variation of the cha-cha method produced
images as good as any I take now. My version was simply to hold my
head perfectly still and take one picture noticing where something the
distance was placed in the frame. Then, carefully move the camera to
my other eye without moving my head and lining up the same distant
object and taking the second picture. If there was no wind, scenics
looked great. It does not work if people are involved, but it can
allow a new experimenter to come up with some VERY easy and quite
INEXPENSIVE 3D images. My (out of my mind) 2 cents worth...
