Hi,
Me again. The NSA used to give out the directory for free
but went to the $5.00 charge when the cost of producing
the directory got out of hand. It still goes to new
members for free and the $5.00 just covers the printing.
As for accessing it on-line, that's a great idea but there
are still members living in the dark ages without computer
access. If we make it free to on-line members and not free
to those without internet access we are disinfranchising
some of our members. We do not wish to do this. Hence,
we make it available in both digital and paper format with
either method available for the $5.00 fee.
It is usually published every 2-3 years. As I mentioned, we
are in the process of putting together the newest one right now.
As for finding folks on the net with an interest in stereo
viewing and 3-D collecting this is an on-going problem. I
remember Jon Golden told me that, at one time, he sent an
e-mail to folks purchasing Realist cameras on ebay to make
them aware of RBT mounts and the like. About 90% of them had
never heard of the NSA.
Keeping the public abreast of a serious interest in 3-D
has been a war that is getting tougher and tougher to win.
The network TV shows present one of their awful 3d shows
and I think folks lose interest rather than gain it. It would
be nice if we could link up to SI with their 3D issues and have
those folks who like the anaglyph issues learn more about NSA
and 3-D photography/collecting.
Any suggestions for promoting NSA membership is always welcome.
