There is no lubricant in the Realist shutter
(or there should not be any). I have used
my Realist in sub-zero temperatures (that's
sub F temperatures, around -15 to -20C) with no
ill effects.

I remember one day, a few years ago, I was
doing a multiple exposure experiment for
a Detroit stereo slide competition called
"Neon Lights". I was photographing a neon
sign in multiple exposures, by rotating the
camera in-between. As always, this was a
last-minute thing and I could not wait for a
better day. It was so cold that I could only
last less than a minute or so, before I had
to run back to the car (with running engine
and heat at full blast) to warm up for five
minutes before getting out to take another
picture. Too cold for humans but not too cold
for my Realist.

I did well that night in Detroit so I guess
all this effort paid off after all! :)
