I have used my Realists on occasion down to -20 degrees F (in northern
Minnesota), although probably the camera didn't get quite that cold
since I would tuck it inside a jacket between shots. But, anyway, I had
no problems with the shutter, typically at 1/100 sec sunny day
exposures. I have also done several second time exposures of Christmas
lights on tripod with cable release at near zero (F) temps without any
noticable problems.

I am confused as to why at a *one second* exposure setting, Mike didn't
have a shutter sticking from the cold, but rather *1/100 sec* or so
exposures. Is there is something in the shutter mechanism that slows
down the shutter for those 1 sec exposures that was somehow
malfunctioning??? -Linda
