Michael,
The easiest solution for you is to look
around at the second hand
and antiques shops and see if you can
find and old Victorian
stereoscope. I always check every
antique store I go into. I am
looking for "working" viewers, not
"collectibles." I don't care
if the velvet is off the rim or if it's
missing the handle. Of
course it has to have the lenses and all
the other functioning
parts. If this is what you look for, you
may still be able to
find one for $15-$30 if you have
patience. You may also want
to search "stereoscopes" on ebay. I see
some very reasonable ones
there from time to time. Also try
"stereopticons". Although this
is a technically incorrect term for this
device, many uninformed
sellers still refer to them as that and
the few true stereopticons
you will run across won't be a burden to
look at.
