Subject: Re: Using flash on a Nimslo

I would be very interested in a way to override the f5.6 setting that
the camera uses when any flash is put on the hotshoe. I suppose one
might use a separate flash bracket if there were another way to attach
the flash for synchronization. That Burdlo override button sounds great.

Re: the suggestion below, I don't think that it matters how much light
the camera or the flash sees, the camera just goes to the default 5.6.
So even even fill flash is not practical.

-------------------------

However, if the camera needs to see a complete circuit from IC pin 6 to the
dedicated flash pin before it sets itself to make an f5.6 exposure, and it
doesn't, it may function as though there is no flash, so fooling the camera
with a superbright LED in front of the sensor could possibly work. Then again,
it may fire the flash out of synch, or not at all. If it works, this is a
kludge fix, but simple. The ideal way is to figure out the electrical values
the IC is looking for and give it false information via a momentary contact
switch added to the camera that reroutes the circuit. The cameras are a little
tricky in that the aperture and the shutter are combined. A Nimslo technician
would be of help here.
