Re: [photo-3d] Mounting Viewmaster reels

Well, seeing as I recently loaded about 10 viewmaster reels, I might be
able to help a bit. First, it really helps to have a VM cutter.
Without one, it's really hard to get the proper shape and size. The end
that goes towards the center is tapered slightly in order to fit
properly and there's about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of extra film on the outer
end of the chip.
A local list member was gracious enough to loan me his film punch
(Thanks Chuck!!) which made the whole process much easier. He also had
the chip insertion tool which is different than the pocket opening tool
Dalia has for sale. Without any type of insertion tool, I would
recommend purchasing some gloves, either latex or cotton, to help you
slide the chip in place. The latex might give you a bit better grip.
All of this is really difficult to explain in a "text only" mode. I'll
try to put something together this week with pictures and measurments,
etc... and post it up on egroups.
Regards,
Ron
