[photo-3d] Retinal Rivalry

Images that have retinal rivalry are less likely to be " successful"
images, but rules can be broken from time to time. I have a couple of
images using retinal rivalry that I consider to be successful images.
These include the use of star filters offset by a few degrees, ice
effect, canvas effect ( created by sandwiching or montaging with chips
that reveal disparities)
With my gel effects I enhance dull slides by adding surreal or vivid
colors by sandwiching films together.
I made a " demo" slide using the alterating eye method of comparison.
The right chip shows the dull lifeless untouched image. Now close the
right eye, and view only the left chip. The left chip shows the enhanced
version of the scene using the colorized gel method. This demo slide was
intended for left/right eye comparison. But something great happens
while opening both eyes at the same time. Rather than flicker, there
appears to be movement in the scene....the water appears to be in
motion! The image takes on an eerie feeling of real-time viewing. Since
I stumbled on this fortunate accident, I have not been able to duplicate
the effect.........but I have been experimenting with retinal rivalry
here and there. I find this image more comfortable to view than a well
done anaglyph like the SI swimsuit models............well...ok...my
subject matter cannot compare :-)
