I was thinking about how easy it is it to flip through a bin of prints.
Suppose we did a thought experiment where 2D and 3D slides are projected
with the slide changer under control of the viewer. Lets take a dozen
2D slides and a dozen different 3D slides. The viewer's task is to gain
basic comprehension of each slide as quickly as possible. My guess is
that it would take the viewer much longer to step through the 3D set
than the 2D set. 3D seems to be a "hotter" medium requiring more
commitment from the viewer than 2D (I may have my McLuhanisms reversed
here). Then again, if response to 3D is slower, it could be simply
because people have generally had more exposure to 2D than to 3D
imagery. I'm sorry that a faulty thought experiment is all I have to
offer. You could be right, George, for all I know. Someone care to run
my experiment, or a more discriminating one?

Oleg
