Hear, hear. Happiness is a well-defined stereo window!

However, it's clear that one size of stereo hat does /not/ fit all.
In my couple of years of stereo involvement, I've gone from
thinking that window violations = automatic aesthetic
disqualification = anathema, to a more tolerant appreciation.

On the one hand there's "project 2x2x2 as received from the
photofinisher," which often presents window violations. On the
other, there are people who love precisely setting windows, and
it's been said that very tiny adjustments can make a very big
difference in how a view is perceived and appreciated. Mightn't
these two truths tell a similar story, despite the risk of retinal
dissonance or occasional headaches?

Given window violations, it's still possible, and often rewarding,
to enjoy the views for what they have to offer, rather than focus
on flaws. However, when mounting 5p & 7p Realist formats,
the reduced height & reduced width alternatives that Spicer
mounts provide can sometimes work wonders, by enabling
accurate mounting while cropping away window violations that
could otherwise be obtrusive.
