[photo-3d] Slide Separation Problem with TDC Project-or-View

Hi all,

I just bought a TDC Project-or-View. Everything appears to work and
looks to be in good shape except for the slide stereo separation
mechanism. When turning the knob from side to side, I am not seeing
any lateral movement (convergence) at all. Without the polarized
glasses, I see two slides with a one inch border between them. I also
notice that part of the left side of the left image is hidden and
part of the right side of the right image is hidden even though the
metal slide mechanism shows that the slide is in proper position
(each slide is completely in its "window frame") and I also know that
it is pushed in all the way to the left within the slide mechanism
housing.

How much visible convergence should I be able to obtain when testing
the mechanism without using the polarized glasses, of course? Should
the slides be almost overlapping each other or should they actually
be not overlapped at all?

How hard is it to adjust or repair the stereo separation mechanism
without affecting any of the other adjustments?

Is it normal for slide viewing in this machine to has less than ideal
illumination?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am so anxious to use this new toy.

BTW: The projector didnot have its original handled-storage case, but
it was sent to me in an old IBM zippered case that has a pull strap
with wheels! I believe it was originally for an older IBM desktop
computer but the material used and its zipper is the type used in ski
jackets and newer carry-on luggage . This type of case fits
beautifully to house/store this projector/viewer and has plently of
firmness and padding to secure the projector/viewer and all of its
accessories. If anyone has this kind of machine but no box, check out
a pawn shop or thrift shop for this type of bag/container.

Thanks,

Flextone
