Ernie;
As one who constantly suffers from the "Window Violation" (especially in my
past work before I discovered that there was a window and actually a group
of people interested in 3-D, which was just a year ago!), I am grateful to
several people who have done exactly this same demonstration technique for
me.
Dan Shelley was the first person who actually showed me what one of my works
would look like if cropped properly when the subject was coming right to the
edge of the "window" (Ann in Red Lingerie). This was important, because
he tried to just tell me about it and that didn't work, but when he actually
showed me a cropped version at the NSA in Mesa it made all the difference in
the world because then I could "see" it.
Tom Dory was instrumental with his tutorial on my "Stormi Blows (Bubbles)"
stereoview ! He actually took the time to send me a Photoshop demo with
several "Window" demonstrations using this work so that I could see each one
work (or not work). If anyone would like this tutorial I did tell Tom that
he could share it. I always wondered how you got things to come "through
the window" like the 3-D sports stuff shown at Mesa (my first stereo theatre
event!). Tom illuminated the way. This probably took him hours to do...
Boris Starosta helped out by telling me all about how to do the cropping on
the computer instead of just trying to get it right when chopping up prints
and putting them onto the cards. God, I wish I could freeview...
Most recently, Ron Labbe took up the charge and demonstrated several
croppings on many different items I had for sale on eBay. He offered to
help and I took his criticism gracefully, then I remade the cards. I'll
take anyone's help...
Their generosity is greatly appreciated ! Sometimes I just can't see these
"window violations" until someone points them out and then they seem so
obvious. My main point here is that I am always grateful when someone
points out my failing and I appreciate the trouble that they go through in
order to help me out.
I know that everyone is busy with there lives and this level of helpfulness
is unique and wonderful. You are all a great group of people because of
this sharing. If someone doesn't appreciate this help--then leave them
alone, you can't help those who don't want it (as my grandmother always
says).
Hey Ernie, do you have any more of your sliding 3-D window demonstration
cards? I'd love to have one. Trade you for a nice landscape?
Larry
