[photo-3d] Help is needed

I have just become the owner of a home made stereo camera using
120 film.
It was made in the years before WW2 and has a pair of 65mm
achromats in a single speed shutter (50th????) and two apertures
which I assume are f 11 & f 16
At some stage during it's later years, someone has sync'd it and
with strobe it is pretty good.
However, I notice colour fringeing and don't like it.
Obviously the camera was originally designed to use b&w film so,
in the absence of a meter - what would the members consider to
be the best b&w film to use bearing in mind the limited apertures?.
Should I expect to get reasonable results?
I have used a Puck with b&w with quite successful results.
