I expanded the acronym as "Stereo Active Mounting" (device),
but was unsure if this is correct. Jon Golden (3D Concepts) has
a fine commercial SAM product for sale. But the principles are
easy to understand and not that difficult to implement, so Do It
Yourself devices are also possible.

The URL I gave shows the one I came up with. All you need are
a pair of lenses and a way to position them so you can see chip
pairs in comfortable stereo, leaving enough fingers free to
move the chips precisely and set the stereo window while you
watch.
