This is very important! You must itemize certain objects or collections of
objects. Consult with your insurance agent to get all the details because
it varies from policy to policy. Generally, "collections of items", such as
artworks, fountain pens, jewelry & yes...cameras must be listed separately.
If you have only one or a couple of "normal cameras" you don't have to
individually insure them, but it you have a collection of equipment than you
really need to check your policy carefully, and I mean, ask pointed
questions of your agent ! A RBT and other 3-D cameras are not "normal"
cameras and may not be covered under a typical homeowners policy, especially
if you have more than this one camera. Three of something normally
constitutes a collection.
All of my camera equipment is covered under a separate rider policy, and
although expensive, it gives me great piece of mind to know that if I drop
it onto my neighbors Porche and then it falls onto my big toe and then hits
the concrete; I know that both the Porche and my big toe are covered and
that my Rolleidoscope will be made whole again as well (either a new-old one
or the cash equivalent of it).
Go get the insurance !
